Supportive Housing:
The Lighthouse Community
Transitional Living Program
The Lighthouse Community (TLC) Transitional Living Program is also known as our Supported Living Program I.
The Supported Living Program II is scattered site housing that is offered to individuals who have either (1) successfully discharged from TLC (Supported Living Program I) or *(2) who are facing the threat of homelessness. Individuals living in scattered site housing are normally placed in either two or three bedroom apartments depending on availability.
The goal of this program is to promote self-harmony; self-awareness and personal victory by helping our clients establish or re-establish equilibrium in their lives. We assist our families in implementing a systematic approach to acquire and cultivate basic living skills coupled with coping and behavior modification techniques that will stabilize them in the least restrictive environment.
Supported Living participants have access to other YES programs such as Career Services, Education, Respite, and Housing Resource. Caseworkers and housing search professionals from our staff work with the families to formulate individualized plans to help them move into permanent, affordable housing. Parents participate in workshops on issues like managing finances and budgeting, parenting, relations with school, community, family, landlords, and employers. Once a family finds more permanent housing arrangement, YES can provide moving assistance and maintains support services to the family for up to a year.
