Life Changer Center
Clubhouse

The Life Changer Center is a Psychosocial Rehabilitation Service provided using the clubhouse model of two or more consecutive hours per day provided to groups of adults in a non-residential setting. It is located at 214 Cowardin Ave., Richmond, VA 23224 and operates from 9am – 6pm Monday – Friday and Weekends per schedule.

Individuals must demonstrate a clinical necessity for the service arising from a condition due to mental, behavioral, or emotional illness that results in significant functional impairments in major life activities.

Typical clients have difficulty in establishing or maintaining normal interpersonal relationships to such a degree that they are at risk of hospitalization or homelessness because of conflicts with family or community. They may require help in basic living skills, such as maintaining personal hygiene, preparing food and maintaining adequate nutrition, or managing finances to such a degree that health or safety is jeopardized.

What is a Clubhouse?

A Clubhouse is first and foremost a community of people. Much more than simply a program, or a social service, a Clubhouse is most importantly a community of people who are working together toward a common goal.

A Clubhouse is a community intentionally organized to support individuals living with the effects of mental illness. Through participation in a Clubhouse people are given the opportunities to rejoin the worlds of friendships, family, important work, employment, education, and to access the services and supports they may individually need. A Clubhouse is a restorative environment for people who have had their lives drastically disrupted, and need the support of others who believe that recovery from mental illness is possible for all.

The Mission
YES Behavioral Health’s Life Changer Center is dedicated to the recovery of men and women that are at risk of or recovering from mental illness by providing opportunities for our members to live, work and learn, while contributing their talents through a community of mutual support. We are committed to bettering the lives of people with mental illness, everywhere. We do this through the development of innovative techniques, research and sharing knowledge with others.

How Do You Become a Member?
